The Mother’s Milk Bank is a local non-profit milk bank that has been in the business of helping babies since 1999. This organization works hard to provide preterm and sick babies in the NICU with human breast milk. For a variety of reasons, mothers are sometimes not available or not able to provide their baby with their own milk. It is an undisputed fact that these babies fare better on human milk, SO the Mother’s Milk Bank steps in with donor milk for them. This milk SAVES LIVES. Our Austin milk bank happens to be THE LARGEST organization of its kind in the world! Yes, we should celebrate!
BUT only about 20% of their supply comes from Austin.
I know we can do better. I’ve met so many nursing mothers who would willingly donate milk if they knew about the mission of The Mother’s Milk Bank.
